What should I say to my student's parents?

This is a role reversal situation. Instead of me increasing the lesson fee, my student's folks wants to increase the fee by 30% as I've been increasing the tutoring lesson times by around an extra 30%. For me, I don't mind as I have the time, they treat me well and never skip a single lesson. If they want to pay me extra, I feel bad! Do you think it's a bit...er...pitiful if I keep negotiating the price down? Ha

How can I put up with my overbearing mother in law during pregnancy?

I am 13 weeks pregnant with our first child and the first grand child on both sides. My mother in law is driving me insane! she is so bossy and opinionated! She keeps telling us what we should and shouldn't do during pregnancy and when the child is born, she tells us what kind of name our child will have to have she said "it can't be too long because it wont go with the surname, you need a short one syllable name. You can't call it something different because they will have trouble through their whole life" she keeps referring to our unborn child as 'her grandchild' saying things like "my grandchild wont be doing .... blah blah" She tells me what furniture I will need to buy and said "you wont need a basinet as they are too expensive and you don't use it for very long...". I am getting so annoyed as she doesn't ask what we want for our child but just bosses us on what we need and what to do! It is so patronizing and rude! I wish she could give us SOME credit as parents to be as I do have a degree in Early childhood and work with babies and children so I'm not completely clueless! She never talks about the fun we will have with our child, she just goes on all the time about how she is going to babysit and take it for walks with her friends etc. as though it's her child more than ours!!! I'm so worried about how she is going to be as we get further into the pregnancy, and when our baby is born! Any advice to save my sanity?

Colonoscopy alternatives?

I was scheduled for a colonoscopy two weeks ago but the preparation solution made me sick. I finished about half of it and could not drink one more drop. I was wondering if there was an alternative in the meantime like an x-ray or an ultrasound. I read that bowel obstructions can be seen in an x-ray. I know that the colonoscopy is the most thorough test but would it be worth it to try some other test before i attempt the colonoscopy again. What can I do about my burn?

what you have is a second degree burned. when it happened, hopefully you ran cold water under it right away. and kept it covered with a sterile dressing/bandage. if that happens again, do that, and make sure you do not tightly bandage it with a sterile dressing, just enough to keep air from getting through. As for the cold water, this eases the burn and controls the swelling. Stop using aloe vera for it is something that can have a tendency to seal in the heat and further keep it from healing. all you have to do is lightly cover it and don't touch it unless you're changing your dressing and bandage. what you see now may be a soft and bubbly type of scab. this is totally normal. This is the blister. do not play with it, and do not pick at it. just allow the blister to burst on its own. All in all, it takes about 3-4 weeks to heal

Have any ladies here ever worn stockings with a garter belt or girdle?

Well, there aren't too many of us vintage gals here on Yahoo, are there? Not to worry, there's more of us around than you'd think! I wear vintage clothes everyday and have been collecting them and wearing them for years. The fashions of the 1940s and 1950s were just so much more glamorous and feminine than anything made today, and the clothing was better made, too. Vintage skirts and dresses were made specifically to be worn with the foundation garments of the day and a lady in those days would not even think of going out of her house without wearing a girdle and stockings. Unless it was for a very, very casual place or event, it just wasn't done and even then she'd still most likely wear stockings with a garter belt under her skirt. Real, authentic fully fashioned stockings are just lovely to wear, so much prettier than pantyhose and a properly fitted girdle is a true joy. Try it once and you'll definitely never go back to pantyhose at the very least and probably end up wanting to wear them daily. What Katie Did is a wonderful retailer and you can't go wrong with any of their products. A little advice, though, buy everything that catches your eye because you'll always want to wear them after your first time in them. A girl can never have too many pairs of stockings or too many girdles and garter belts in her wardrobe!

I must agree. I am agnostic and have seen people from all sides act in a shameful way. Yes, it is ok for people to have differences and to discuss this. But, when some take it too far and get hateful towards others for their personal beliefs, that is wrong. Every group has their teachings and can trace it back to the beginnings of time. There is no concrete way to prove conclusively which religion is right and which is wrong. So why judge people for that. Every word you can point to confirming you can be disputed 3 times somewhere else. In the end, it all boils down to Faith. It is what you believe to be true and accept. Then, when that is settled, we should just try to be nice to one another and live together in some sort of decent manner.

Can I file a police report or should I contact an attorney for someone that took $700 from me?

An acquaintance agreed to book an airline ticket for me with his frequent flier miles in exchange for $700. This person explained that the ticket would arrive within two weeks, so I dated the check for more than two weeks in advance, thinking that if I didn't get the ticket I could cancel the check. This person changed the date on my check, deposited it, and never got the ticket to me. They essentially stole $700 from me. I have a copy of the check that I wrote and a copy of the check that they changed the date on, but I went to the bank and there is nothing that they can do for date changes. My question is - can I file a police report against this person? I'm not sure the police would do anything, or should I contact an attorney? I am mindful of not spending a lot of money to get this resolved seeing as its a relatively small amount of money, but $700 is $700 and I don't want this person to get away with my money. Okay so I thought I had a kidney infection so when i went to the doctor i did a pee test and they said they werent sure so they sent it to the lab in the mean time they gave me some kidney infection medicine, when it came back from the lab they said it was E COLI. and they werent sure if the medicine they gave me killed it. so i took another pee test five days after the 1st appointment and i still had e coli. so now all they gave me is amoxocillin my mom didnt pick it up till two days after it was prescribed. i mean how serious is this. they dont even know how far along this is. it was just a normal doctor. not the hospital. so what is amoxocillin gonna do. i thought this stuff could kill me and they are actin like its no big deal. :/ he didnt test how far along it was or anything. i feel shaky and sick all the time. i almost p out a lot, and i threw up a few times but not that much. my apetite isnt really all that great. idk.

i'm 23 weeks pregnant and having problems with mine and my partners relationship. A few days ago I found emails from his ex girlfriend when I was picking up an email to sort out his health insurance. They were on facebook and he didn't realise an email is sent to your hotmail aswell when you recieve a message. in dec 07 - jan 08 i was rough will myslef and i think i really hurt myself but at the time i didnt notice any symptoms, about a month later in feb. i started to have abdominal pain, and since the pain has gotten worse, and whole body symptoms have developed, nerve pain/muscle pain and its getting worse still.. i started getting constipated in march and since may i was so constipated i was unable to go for 2weeks at a time, and only with stool softners, now i cant go unless i use miralax 2-3 capfulls a day ( the GI dr. proscribed it , for long term ) i also can not go while sitting on the toilet (i go onto toilet papper while stading) i p nothing but moosh, and i think thats all i can p. haveing GI / abdominal pain, and whole body pain, with nerve sensations (even on the back of head and top / left side only on my head ) tests i have had- colonoscopy, CT scan abdominal / pelvis, mutipule blood tests on several different times since feb.

My 4 year old son's behaviour...help!!!?

I hope someone here can help. I am a mum of three amy is ten chase is four and chloe is 5 months (the older two are from a previous relationship) My partner has never dealt with or had kids before meeting me almost 2 years ago. My son has started school and is a very stubborn little boy. I use the step and removal of toys and privileges as punishments. However my partner doesn't agree. He shouts at him like he is shouting at an adult and then when he cries he calls him a pansy. I have told him several times that i am not willing to put up with this as my little boy now thinks paul doesn't like him. I love my partner but next to kids there is no comparison. The thing is he is an amazing and supportive partner,this is the only issue we have. He says that he doesn't want chase growing up to be a delinquent and he would rather he was afraid of him and behaved,but this isn't healthy i know this. If so take the angel fish back. They are tropical and the others are not. You should also get rid of the two carps. They're overstocking you. The 6 fantails alone stock you. On the bottle of medicine it should say how much to add. Most of the time its a drop a gallon. So for 80 gallons you do 80 drops.... The salt should help a little but not as much as keeping the water clean and quarantining new fish will.

Stray Kittens- What should I do?

I live in an apartment complex. A neighbor took in a stray cat and it gave birth to 6 kittens... but they let them out all the time. In fact, the mom and all six kittens are playing in a bush infront of my patio right now. I worked for petco for a long time and have sat through a bunch of lectures on how susceptible cats are to disease and why you shouldn't let your cat outdoors. Especially with teh kittens, I am worried about what people might do to them as they are not obviously claimed (no collars or anything). I don't know of anyone who will take them- maybe a shelter?? But would calling the shelter be offensive to these neighbors? I'm not sure what to do.

Just slightly pull on the reins to slow him down to a lope. Remember, English is a lot smoother than Western so it's gonna feel REALLY bouncy! Yes, you keep pressure in your calfs and thighs to stay on, but not too much because thats telling your horse to go faster. The stirrups should be comfortable. You don't need to post, so that's why they are longer. To gallop in English you kick with your outside leg. I ume it's the same in western. You can always click your tounge to make them go faster too. Yes your hands drop low. Yes, it's the same rule about your heels and legs. Hope I helped and have fun!

The amount of vulnerable kids and adults that are failed by the authorities is, and should literally be, criminal. I can't comprehend how anyone can leave a child to take drugs for 9 hours. You didn't say what she is eating right now. If you have been exclusively feeding, it's time to try some finger foods and let her pick them up off the tray and put them into her mouth herself. She is probably teething and her gums might be very sore so she will reject a hard spoon. Often at teething time it's difficult for them to suck as well because the hard nipple of the bottle can hurt her very sensitive gums. Put her in her high chair and give her a spoonful of cooked rice on her tray. She will pick up the grains one by one and be fascinated by this process! You can also use peas (canned ones are softer than cooked frozen ones), peaches or pears (mash these a bit with a fork so there are no huge chunks), toast (without er) - the hard toast is like a teething ring and feels good on the gums. There are special cookies for babies (Mum Mum's) - just plain rice and water. Babies love to hold them themselves and chew away on them. They dissolve in the mouth so there is no choking hazard. Also the Baby Cheerio's are good at this age. Your baby is at the age where she wants to explore food with all her senses - see it, feel it, smell it, taste it. It's a dirty venture - she will have food from her hands to her elbows, but it is a necessary stage for any baby to go through if you want them to like all types of foods and not be picky eaters. Cooked squash, sweet potatoes, pasta (without tomato sauce), are all things that can be put on her tray to eat as finger foods. She will learn to enjoy a wide variety of tastes this way, and by feeding herself she can avoid the sore spots on her gums that she can't point out to you. If she is teething, try giving her a cold celery stick from the fridge. She can gum it and the cold will provide a lot of relief for her sore gums. Also, she won't be able to bite pieces off of it and possibly choke on them. Cooked cut up egg yolk is also a good finger food.

I'm having problems working the camera, when i select Manuel(M) the photo is too dark and sometimes nothing appears on the screen even though my F-Stop is at 4.2 and im in a well lit area,then when i select Speed(S) the photo again is too dark and when i select Aperture(A) everything is blurry. I work at a restaurant and I was igned to spread menus around our area. Over the past 7 years, I have seen most of my friends, acquaintances and coworkers buy condos or houses, even if they had no income for the value of the condo or house. I have heard that they refinanced houses too because they got more "equity" when houses down the street sold for more, because they got a new appraisal and were given higher value of a loan. In 2003 I looked for a house but did not like what I could afford on standard plans (I did not trust exotic mortgages), and did not feel comfortable with realtors telling me I have to give $20-50,000 more to secure that condo. I am still renting but one day would like to buy. I think to avoid the next collapse (since housing boom and bust is usually cyclical), the rules for appraisals should be revised so that house values do not skyrocket just because a house down the street sold for more, or we will have another bumpy ride in the next decade. Also, is it ethical of the real estate agents urging you to pay more for the house if their commission is based on the total sales price? It is like telling people they want to make more so to give them more money. Please let me know your opinions.

Legal question about medical rights?

Is there a way to legally take control of disabled parents medical decisions if they are willing to stop other family members from making these decisions without including parents or family members in them? My brother went behind my fathers and my back and had my mother baker acted. He did not include in this decision, and did not tell us about it. We sat at the ER all night after we called an ambulance to pick her up cuz she was in diabetic shock. We were not allowed to see her, and when we would ask what was going on we were told that "due to the cirstances she was admitted under" we were not allowed any information. She was not violent or suicidal or anything when the paramedics picked her up. We told the ER nurses that we are the ones who had her admitted and still they would not tell us anything. After fighting with them the next day, we were finally able to see her, but not without a sitter, and she was restrained to her bed. We didn't understand, and Again were told it was for her safety and they could not tell us more information. At this point she was pretty much incoherent. On the third day, my mother called my father and wanted to know why he had baker acted her. We were not aware of this. When we went back to the hospital, this time she was coherent and told the nurse that we were to know her medical information and we were able to make her decisions. That is when they finally explained that my brother had baker acted her, that she was restrained to keep from harming herself, and that the sitter was there because she was on suicide watch, based on information my brother gave them. We want to find a way to protect ourselves so that he cannot go make desicions for her without our consent. I am 28 years old and they are both disabled. Is there a way I can become thier medical surrogate or something, so that any major medical desicions cannot be made without my consent? Or a way that we can legally require the consent of either the patient and 1 family member, or the consent of 2 immediate blood relatives before any major medical desicions can be made? We just want to insure that all desicions that effect the family are made by the entire family, not just someone looking for the easiest way out. Thanks in advance for any help.

What are the red blotches beside my nose?

Several months ago I noticed a small red patch on the left on my nose. For the past few months it has been getting bigger, and as of a few days ago, a red spot on the other side of my nose appeared. Dry skin forms very often over the red spots. If you don't look closely, it looks like a dark patch of acne. I have tried evrything on them, but every time it looks like it's getting better, it gets worse again. I don't think it's a fungal infection. It doesn't look like ringworm. I adopted a 1.5 year old cat from the shelter about three months ago. He was sooo sweet and gentile at first but he seems to be getting more and more aggressive. I have three young children who are scared of him. He gets in "moods" where he attacks everything that moves. I understand that cats can get very playful but he is scratching and biting. He lunged at my 4 yr old daughter and scratched up her neck. He pounced at my husbands face when he was sleeping. I got a kitten a few months ago and i love it but as it has recently started an annoying thing where you will be sitting down and it will pounce on you and start clawing you and biting. It hurts but I tell it off and put it outside the room i am in but then it will start meowing loudly outside until you let it back in then it will just claw and bite you again. When you are eating it will jump up to you and try to get at your food and if you put him aside he will try and claw you. he isn't really a kitten anymore and it i getting annoying, is there a way to stop this?

I'm male, age 18. Its been 2 months now and I still feel dizzy 24/7. Not spinning around or unbalanced movement just mild dizziness because I can walk normally but I feel dizzy. I went to Neurologist and they give me Serc and other anit-vertigo medicines but nothing works for me. They told me to have a CT Scan but the results is also negative no problem in the brain. I feel very worried about this because its been 2 months but nothing happens. Before i got this dizziness I had a fever with sore throat then after the fever my dizziness won't leave! My blood pressure is ok 120/80 and even those with hypertension won't experience 24/7 mild dizziness i think.

im 17 about to be 18 in april. My grandpa is in the hospital because he had a heart attack and broke his hip. 2 years ago I moved 30 mins away from my old school. I cant tell my mom about the things my grandma does because she's usually at work and I dont want to bother her with my complaints, but my mom knows what my granma's been saying and stuff and she talked to her about it but my grandmother dosent listen. Also to make things worse i havent seen my gf of 2 years because i havent seen her once in about 2 years(next month will make it 3) since I moved away. I cant go see and see her because I have to take care of my siblings. I cant ask my mom because she has to work and then go to the hospital to see my grandpa. And I cant drive because I dnt have my licsence yet, and because my mom and I barely have time, because we're bussy. Need Help with my car coolant.?

I really liked the movie, I actually went to see it in theaters and then watched it again when it came out on DVD. Shia LaBeouf really surprised me with how well he handled playing a serious role.
